Early Rural Experience (ERE)
This course requires special permission to enroll and is designed to replace the Summer Rural Externship with a more flexible version.
The Early Rural Experience is a 120 hour rotation designed to reinforce student interest in rural practice and to prepare the student for their rural clerkships. This rotation is comprised of clinical office experiences in rural communities,
community service and interdisciplinary shadowing.
The 120 clinical hours can be at different locations, with different physicians and can be spread out over the course of 1 year. Scheduling can include up to 3 different sites/preceptors/or start times.
