Event to honor Speaker Shannon, House members for OSUMC support
OSU Center for Health Sciences and OSU Medical Center will host an event for Speaker T.W. Shannon and members of the Oklahoma House of Representatives on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in the OSU Medical Center Auditorium to thank them for supporting the teaching hospital.
In May, the Oklahoma Legislature provided $13 million in funding for the medical center as part of the state budget. This support enables OSU-CHS and OSUMC to continue to train physicians and care for the underserved in Oklahoma.
Shannon was first elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 2006. He has served as deputy majority whip and chaired the Transportation Committee. At the beginning of the year, Shannon became Oklahoma’s youngest speaker of the House at age 34.
During the event, students will recognize Shannon and the House members for their support. The event is open to OSU-CHS students, residents, faculty and staff. If you plan to attend, RSVP by Monday at noon by calling 918-594-8291.
