First-year students to receive white coats at ceremony
OSU medical student Judd Miller is cloaked by William J. Pettit, D.O., during the 2013 White Coat Ceremony.
OSU-COM will host the 16th annual White Coat Ceremony on Saturday, Aug. 2 at 10 a.m. at the Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center.
First-year OSU medical students will receive a white coat at the ceremony, which symbolizes the medical profession and emphasizes the importance of the doctor-patient relationship. Dr. Kayse Shrum, OSU-CHS president, will welcome students, family and friends to the ceremony.
The Oklahoma Osteopathic Association provides the white coats for the first year students. The student physicians will recite the Osteopathic Medicine Oath of Commitment, marking their entry into the medical profession.
