OSU-COM Class of 2013 dedicates tree in memory of Lo Detrich

Each year, Lo Detrich would visit the OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine to share her battle against cystic fibrosis with first-year medical students. For the Class of 2013, the experience was even more meaningful because Lo’s sister, Jane, is one of their classmates.

The OSU-COM Class of 2013 is hosting a tree dedication ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 4 p.m. at the OSU Center for Health Sciences to honor Lo, who passed away on Aug. 11, and her family.

Students from the Class of 2013 will plant a 4-foot red oak tree and 72 pansies near the northwest entrance of OSU-CHS as a memorial to Lo and the impact she had on the future physicians she touched with her story.

Lo’s parents, Don and Terry, will be attending the ceremony with their daughter, Jane. Dr. Robin Dyer, chair of the OMM department, and Kyle Summers, Class of 2013 president, will speak at the event, which is open to the public.
