Forensic sciences students work with researchers on mock crime scenes

Forensic sciences students work on mock crime sceneFive graduate students in Ron Thrasher's Advanced Criminalistics class at OSU Center for Health Sciences spent Monday afternoon analyzing a mock crime scene on the banks of the Arkansas River.

Thrasher, assistant professor of forensic sciences, brings one working professional as a guest lecturer each week. The experts work with students on a variety of forensic analysis, including blood splatter, death scene investigation and firearms.

On Monday, the students investigated an environmental crime under the guidance of Dr. Larry Zinn from the Tulsa Police Department Forensic Laboratory.

The students in the Advanced Criminalistics course get practical experience in the field, which prepares them for on-scene work after they graduate, said Thrasher.
